PETITIONS READY!! PLEASE CLICK HERE!!

September  14, 2008- Still waiting for Internal Affairs to finish up the review and release records to the family. Meanwhile, we are writing all United States Senators to request that legislation be brought forward to require animal control training for all law enforcement officers.

August 11, 2008- The Internal Affairs investigation is complete. The investigator is completing his report. The report will go through the chain of command "for review and determination of disposition." Once this is done, the investigation results will be shared with the family and the public.

July 23, 2008- The Texas Commission on Law Enforcement confirmed that they "do not know of any mandated courses specifically for animal control training for peace officers" and that they, "do not require this topic in our basic training course."
July 7, 2008- The Texas Attorney General allows Travis County Sheriff's Office to with-hold audio, video, and photo evidence from the public while the Internal Affairs investigation is in process. We are extremely disappointed in this decision. If there is nothing to hide then why not let us see it?

July 3, 2008- Austin Chronicle Article- "Dead Dogs Don't Lie: If your pet escapes in Austin, pray for Animal Control!"

June 26, 2008- "Man's Pit Bull Shot by Deputy" blurb on front page of Pflugerville Pflag. Phil made the Pflag.

June 26, 2008- All requestors of open records received a formal written request from the Sheriff's Office to the Attorney General requesting that no records be released while they are investigating a crime. So, what crime exactly are they investigating? We have been told that the officer will either be exonerated or reprimanded depending upon the outcome of the Internal Affairs investigation. So what crime has taken place? The officer can't have committed a crime if he will only be reprimanded. Therefore, we maintain that all records, photos, calls, and video evidence should be released to the public.

June 24, 2008- Phil is on 101X to give an update and comment on Chief Acevedo's interview.

June 24, 2008- The family sent a letter via email to the Travis County Sheriff stating questions and concerns regarding the shooting of Champ.  The Sheriff responded immediately and assigned someone to to help answer any questions and be the contact throughout the process. Unfortunately, most questions can't be addressed due to the ongoing Internal Affairs investigation.

June 18, 2008- The Sheriff's Office informs the family that they are requesting that  the dispatch call, photos, and video NOT be released to the public.

June 17, 2008- Phil states that the incident report tells quite a different story than the deputy's original account of the incident immediately after he shot Champ.

June 17, 2008- The family finally receives the incident report. All others that requested the report received an incorrect case report. **IF YOU RECEIVED AN INCORRECT REPORT, PLEASE EMAIL THE SHERIFF'S OFFICE BACK AND TELL THEM THEY ATTACHED THE WRONG FILE.**
